That's just it... The way the mini UCO is built I don't think its breaking in transit... I think its getting broke at the factory... Because the glass is encased in metal... The metal is wrapped in clam shell packaging... The clam shell has been well wrapped inside a box... And the box hasn't been damaged... It's weird...It sounds like the ups man is throwing them at your door.

Man that is odd.
Where are you getting them from? Maybe they are tring to sell off defective lanterns or got a bad batch. Call and have them hand select one to inspect it before they ship it...
Amazon... I have never had any issued with stuff coming messed up... The problem is without cutting open the clam shell and extending the lantern you can't see the glass... Makes it hard to inspect...

I have had the original model for over 6 years and I have been very rough with it without putting a scratch on it...
I hope everything works out with it because they are nice to have in your pack..
