    Zing-It or Lash-It

Other than the color, what is the real difference between these two types of cordage?

I have tried to search here on HF but am unable to find anything on it. Maybe I need more practice with the search function! HAHA

The only difference is colour. Otherwise they are exactly the same.

    Cheers

Thats what I figured. Why not call it the same thing but have two different colors. Thanks!

Zing-it has a urethane coating to help arborist when tossing the line over tall branches.

Lash-it is not coated to help it hold tighter when lashing.

    From Samson Rope...

"Lash-It!/Zing-It! ....The proprietary Samthane coating adds to the twine's wear life, ensure its knot-holding capability, and gives it a distinctive color."

Same thing, different color Samthane coating.

When throwing a line (zinging it), either in water or over branches, it's important to be able to see it.

There is a line with slippery coating used for bear bags, called a slick dyneema here: http://www.zpacks.com/accessories/spectra_cord.shtml

Dunno that anyone can claim from experience that Lash-It has properties claimed for it not found in Zing-IT, other than availability at nautical supply houses and color.

As for the proprietary "Samthane" coating: I am sure it is special. But, when the advise from one of the major cordage makers is that the toughest jacket you can apply to Dyneema (tm) rope is another layer of it, you know even before you consult arborist boards, that the coating quickly wears off in use as a throw line, dragged over branches with a load at one end. That leaves the tough Dyneema fibers exposed. No problem: they are slick as well as tough.
