Sharing your single person hammock with your GF / WIFE

I'm thinking of getting a Blackbird but one of the ones rated for higher weights so that my GF and I can relax and cuddle (and other activities) on our trips.

I think I'm going to get something rated for 350-400 lbs as this should give us plenty of margin for error.

I don't plan on SLEEPING in it with her, I will have my own blackbird.

My main question is whether it would be uncomfortable? I don't want to buy it and then find out it's not a good idea to jump in a hammock with your GF.

    Thoughts anyone?

There are hammocks that are much better for dual occupancy than camping hammocks. Brazilian, Mayan, and similar, which come in much wider sizes. Google is your V day friend.

That's not to say you can't have a contraceptive error in the jump seat of a small sports car; but the greater error would be in thinking you have much chance of two people agreeing to take the risk of that error in such a confined and confining space. So, my guess is that those risks are taken (or not -- depends on the cad and the car), instead, on a blanket or self-inflatable mattress stashed in the boot / trunk of said sports car.

Don't misunderstand me to refer to some skimpy camping mattress, either; make it full size at minimum.

Camping hammocks aren't well-suited to dual occupancy, at least not if you want to sleep. Clark sells the Flex 180 and Vertex that sleep two, but they're independent beds.

If you look around the forum, you'll find others who have tried to find a way for two people to sleep together in a camping hammock, but I haven't read many success stories.

I've layed in my GT Double with my wife for a few minutes one time... Not really a fan. I suppose for a little cuddling it wouldn't be too bad, if that's your thing (we both generally like our space too much for a whole lot of cuddling.) As for the 'other' I've been curious, but not terribly optimistic. I'd be more inclined to put my CCF down in my SF under the hammock for that. Who knows though, I'm just guessing... Haven't gotten that far and I always hear guys talking about how great the 'lay' is in their hammock.

Maybe it comes from being married, but I couldn't see sharing a hammock with the wife. She can have her own hammock, sleeping bag, side of the tent.

I would think that it would be pretty tight fit for two in a single cut hammock. Might be worth looking at a double size hammock for play (and sitting), and use it as a single for sleeping.

My co-worker who's tried told me, "If you want to see her again after the first night, don't sleep in the same hammock".

I have a grand trunk double that I have spent a few hours in with a lady friend, definitely not the most comfortable lay in the world. It was nice to snuggle up for a while, but only a short while, no clue how that would work in something like a BB

I've been in my HH Safari with my girlfriend and we were both incredibly comfortable. However, I'm about 5'11 and 165 lbs. and she's about 5'1 and 90 lbs, so we're both relatively small. We were still comfortable though. I think a lot of it depends on how you sleep in a bed too. If you sleep a pretty good distance apart in a bed, don't even think about it. A hammock forces you to cuddle.
