I think it is genius you made a hybrid cinch buckle whoopie system I find that very interesting.

I camp in bear country and I am a bear Burrito.
Have you thought about drilling a small hole in the end of both to attach a small string or bungee to keep the parts together when not in use or in the backpack?
This replaces the MSH and does it in style. I love this!

My forum name is Fish<><; I'm in the navy; and I hate sleeping on the ground. If I didn't need ground to walk on or measure resistance to, I think I could happily give it up.
If I am seeing this right - this could replace my 'somewhat difficult to adjust' cinch buckle. A chain link larksheaded to the hammock, this buckle on my long webbing/tree straps - no whoopies needed. And could be adjusted to very short spans if needed. Maybe slightly more bulk than my current buckles but...I like it...
I'll bet you could sell a few of these...(hint, hint)
Very nice.
I'm starting to make the mental move away from whoopies after a few 'too close together' trees, and this may push me over that edge.
Any specifics on the 1/2 Al tubing--it looks rather thick. I'm hoping it is an easy to come by item.
I really like the lighter weight and low space requirement of my current whoopie/4-6ft tree straps, but this no fuss, one size fits all solution looks like a real winner.
Thanks,
Jason
Anything will work. I went with aluminum for the wieght savings.. Like I said I dont know how strong this is, or whats its failure rating is.. Im just a guy with some tools who likes to think outside the box.. I got the tubing from lowes (I think).. I dont think it has to be too strong as the weight isnt really pulling on that so much as it is the arrow shaft..
