    I Love It!

I love all the new ideas. When someone makes this so I can buy it, I'll be the 1st in line.

Here is what I went with for now. I didn't want to hijack this thread, so I started a thread on what I went with here:
    http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...35&postcount=1

    Including full pictures.

I like it. I would classify this as an upgrade to a MSH. But Since this method still requires you to have more strap length than normal, its looking like it would be about the same bulk and weight as the Descender-ring cinch buckle system. Either way its a great idea and a great suspension. It allows for a wider range of suspension adjustment when compared to the original Sliding Toggle.

How would you compare this approach to using an elephant trunk?

The innovation and intelligence I see on HF on a daily basis is truly awesome. I'm always impressed with what everyone comes up with including this. However this does seem very similar to a cinch buckle, and seems to eliminate the weight savings of the original sliding toggle. Not considering the wooden toggle, you only need a short strap and single line of Amsteel. Whereas this you need long straps, which is why I've never liked the cinch buckle suspension.

My sentiments exactly! This is why I constantly say that I love my whoopies and despise any sort of strap & buckle arrangement.

Im using this in junction with woopie slings at the moment... Instead of having fiddle with a MSH every time I move, im just going to leave this on my tree strap and adjust as need..... Im still trying to figure out a way to use this at the tree end. Replace the biner with this and hang whoopie right at the tree. I hate having long straps too...

Just watched a vid of this, never seen it before. Looks like the ET is harder to adjust.. I have never used one so I cant say for sure. This buckle system I made is extremely easy to move. Instead of having to manipulate the webbing, the arrow shaft when pulled on does it for you.. As another memeber pointed out, it can even be done with gloves on. Aslo this looks easier to install. Just fold a loop in your webbing shove it through the buckle, stick and an arrow shaft (or any toggle) in the loop and hang. The ET looks like you have to weave the webbing back through it self a few times..

+1. My immediate thought when I saw the trimmed down version. I'd lose it
in a heart beat if not attached....I tie my toggles to the tree strap for that very reason.

I like the potential of this idea over the tri-glide style too, for the ease of adjustability.
