If I'm reading your OP right the double layer hammock weighs in at 42.32ounces without suspension?
If that's the case the fabric weighs in at 4.32 ounces per square yard....way heavy!! Most are using fabric that weighs in at either 1.1 oz/sq yd or 1.7 if they're worried about their own weight
You could cut your carry weight by more than half by using 1.7 fabric double layer or even more by using 1.7 single layer.
The bigger question is what the fabric is made of. You can test the fabric content with a burn test if you've some scraps left over to work with.

The weave of a fabric will also have an effect on how well it will work as a hammock.
