    Hammock collisions

I know many people have recommended not setting up a hammock on a game trail to avoid getting run into by one of our woodland friends, but has anyone ever actually been run into?
I had a strange experience this past summer. I was relaxing in the hammock, still awake. Probably around 11:30 at night. I could hear sounds of various forest critters scurrying around the underbrush. I suddenly heard some fast soft thumps coming my way before something connected solidly with my backside (meaning my butt). It wasn't heavy, and it didn't seem to slow the critter down in the least, as I heard a few more quick thumps moving away. Judging by the height of the hammock, I'm assuming I was hit by a varying hare. No one was harmed in the collision, but it was one of the stranger experiences in my long time in the bush.
Has any one else had similar run ins?

Not me but one of my best friends got sniffed and pushed a little by something big during his second time in his hammock. He swears it was a bear. He made a noise like "shooo" and it ran away crashing through the brush and down the hill.
I asked him where his food was and he said it wasn't in the hammock. But knowing him & his other camping/fishing buddies there was prob food all over the camp.

I thought for moment I had a direct wildlife encounter, but it was my cat jumping up on top of me during a testing night in my yard. He was apparently looking for warmth. No sock, no bugnet, and he landed on my belly.

I hear deer all the time, and often raccoons, but none has ever come an nudged me. I can imagine that places like Shenandoah, the tame deer might well push on a hammock camper looking for an offering. I woke in the Shenandoah Park once and looked around with my head lamp. There were dozens of pairs of eyes shining back at me. Probably deer. I just went back to sleep.

Lol, no I didn't. It was very much a "did that seriously just happen?" moment.

I was setup in a small hollow off the AT in GA when something hit my suspension line. I was near a road and thought I was being attacked. In the morning I found turkey feathers at the end of the hammock. Later while breaking camp a Turkey flew out of a large tree that I had been tied to.

Similar story. I went to Silent Lake Provincial Park, south of Algonquin, for a test run of my gear. First real night in a hammock. I heard all kinds of weird noises, and odd thumping and then suddenly a big bump on my rear end as a hare tore through the campsite. Scared at first, but helped me realize most of the things out there are not bears...

Personally i don't think its that big of deal unless you see allot of recent activity . Animals use the whole forest not just the trails.

I had a wild hog run under my hammock one night when I was in Arizona.
I know of another Forum member that was a racoons play mate all night at a hang in Fairfield.
