    501 Shelter Winter Hang

It was a balmy 29 degrees when I arrived to my first group hang and my first winter hang, and my first time using my new DIY Winter Dream tarp. We had a great meal and chat around the fire before retiring to sleep in the piney woods with a low around 16 degrees and a good stiff wind all night.

It was a great time meeting Dutch, JerzyBears, GLP, Blackfoot, G Hawk, Uncle Ray Ray, and the late arrival and early departing one (I forgot the name).

We grilled some meat over the infamous Tarp Fly grill.

The wood was a little damp, so we also smoked the meat and ourselves.

That's about as much detail as I can go into due to the "what happens at 501 stays at 501" rule.

Thanks everyone for a nice night. My new tarp at the site.

Beautiful snow-lined branches, made without wind. 501AT PA
Arched by the weight of the snow; branches spring home ward when tapped.

Laughing in the snowy woods, around a campfire with friends.
Hangers with the proper gear, all say they slept warm on a 16* windy night.

Looks like a great time and great meal was had by all. Like the new tarp, the blue is a good color you don't often see.
Everyone ought to believe in something....I believe I'll go set up the hammock!

If I was there...which I'm not confirming , I would have had a great time catching up with old friends and making some new ones.

Looking forward to next time (allegedly)
    see you on the trail,
