Woot - Singer Thread-injector & Serger sale

There have been a few announcements regarding the Wilderness Outfitters Hammocks that Woot offered previously. Now Woot has a sale on a Singer Thread-injector & Serger.

When I first read the blurb, I thought it was a combination device. Reading the details indicates that it is two items. In this case, I limit my sewing to needle & thread. My wife won't let me near her thread injector.

Those of you with experience with this type of hardware will need to chime in on whether or not this is a good deal for anyone wanting to really get into the DYI of creating your own masterpieces directly from fabric.

BTW - the web site lists this as a sale only as long as quantities last or Midnight (U.S. Pacific Time Zone).

For the record... I am not impressed. For gear making I think you can do better in the used market. For garment making I wouldn't go near it. For hemming a few curtains now and then.... maybe. A cheap serger is just that... a cheap serger. They are very intricate mechanics and something has to suffer to turn them out cheaply. $700 retail for both is way too cheap in my mind.

And a serger isn't normally used in gear making.

Someone gave me a serger, I just tossed in the garage. What a nightmare this was trying to figure out. Not a gear machine.
