    Pad in footbox

    Hi all,

I'm considering the purchase of a Warbonnet XLC. But am debating on single or double layer. I use a 2/3 under quilt (phoenix) with a pad under my legs and feet. My question is does the double layer include the footbox, and would a short pad like that stay in there well? I envision that it would stay in place better than in a single layer like I do right now, but not sure. Anyone using the blackbird in this way?

    Thanks.

Great question, I would guess yes, but I think the XLC is larger than the WBBB and there are only 1 or 2 in the field so far? Maybe...

Have you considered maybe going with an underquilt for your hammock? You would have the option for a sewn footbox or just go with the draw cord closure.

I do use an underquilt, but it's a 2/3 length so it just covers down to my knees. I use the pad for insulation under the rest of me.

I do not have the XLC but I have a double layer WBBB. I put a pad at the feet and it works great. Also another way you can role it up and put it in the foot end of your TQ or bag. I use a cheap car window shade. Hope this helps but if not sorry.

I don't see any reason why a pad wouldn't work in the footbox. It is less likely to slip away since it is "trapped" in the footbox.
The more I learn about people, the more I like my dog.

I zip up my winter coat and put my feet inside with my underquilt.

I dont have the XLC, but the WBB 1.7 double and I don't believe there is a double layer under the footbox to insert a pad (that appears to be your question). Keep in mind it appears I have an older model
