What to do with my doors?

I bought a HG 4S last spring and have not used it much yet. I have been using my WB edge for the nicer weather. Well as of lately it has been 4S weather. I now have run into a small dilemma. Doors are kinda new to me and I'm really not sure of the best way to control them. I'm looking for a clean and simple way to pitch the door as to gain access in and out, and also pull back and out of the way when not needed. I have been using mitten hook on the side pullouts for the doors to keep them out of the way. As for pitching the doors in storm mode one door has a guyline and the other door has shockcord, mitten hook and a cord lock attached to it. I connect the mitten hook to the other doors guyline or D-ring to close. I'm not thrilled with the mitten hooks. I have tried Dutch hooks on the side pullouts but I was afraid they may ware/tear my tarp. Any better rigging ideas or hardware to use please post and maybe a pic or two. Thanks All

What to do with my doors?

Just add a little shock cord and a Dutch hook and make it able to reach the middle tieout tabs, no need to ad a mitten hook on the tieout.

Any other ideas? The Dutch hooks are a little to small with gloves and although great for other things, they are a pain in the ars for opening and closing the doors. This may be my set up below. A mitten hook on a loop of shock cord attached to one of the doors on each end. To open and close door hook the mitten hook to other doors D-ring for storm mode. For doors back mode attach mitten hook to other ends door guy line. Total parts two modified mitten hooks and two small loops of shock cord.

I was actually attaching the guyline to the mitten hooks on the pullouts. My new idea is simpler. I hope it works.

Shock cord & a slippery half hitch at the pull out tab. No hardware. Simple knots can solve a lot of problems.

One idea (via SHUG) is to sew on some short sections of cord along the axis of the door "hinge". Then, you just role & tie up the door(s) when you don't need them. I can't find the video Shug references these door ties, but here's one where you can see his doors tied up with them.
fast forward to 2:42min. for a good view of the door ties.

I tie my doors to the pullouts to get them out of the way.

For storm mode, I sewed velcro down the length of the doors. Then I run the tie-out from one door through the tie-out loop of the other door and attach both to a stake. I find that I can open the doors and easily pass through without needing to worry about undoing the tie-outs...I just have to step over the closed section at the very bottom.

When I sewed my velcro, I made sure that one end is easy to open from the outside and one end is easy to open from the inside. The velcro faces toward the inside on one side and toward the outside on the other.

I have a DIY Winter Dream...YMMV. Pics on my profile
