    Nice read, and cool pics. Try that crap around here, and you would still be soaked from the ground. It never dries out enough here, to not have wet ground. Well except August and September, but the ground is just damp and not wet. So you always have to plan for a wet ground and wet conditions in general.

    I remember making these as a kid in West Virginia, where you actually had enough leaves to make something like that. Using a cheapy emergency blanket on the opposite end of the door, but reflecting the fire back into the cavity is a very good way to stay warm.
    I miss my 4.8Lb base weight as a ground dweller...But I sure DON'T MISS the ground.

    We were trying to weigh the cost-benefit of a one vs. two man shelter. On one hand, you have building two shelters, which has less airspace- warmer, but double the work. Ultimately we decided that two people would add the body warmth to make up for the extra aispace, plus less effort= less calories out.
