I am 6'2 and weigh 275. My whoopies have never given me any reason to doubt them. Except the time I did not notice when I first started using them that one slipped off the knot in the marlin spike hitch and I hit the ground LOL! But if you check that they are on the knot and make sure you milk the bury then I would trust my whoopies over my hammock as far as which one would fail. Shugs videos are a must, he explains all the little details.

Don't let whoopie slings scare you. They are used all over this forums with confidence. I'm 250lbs and have no reservations about using them. I've even had my wife in the same hammock for some snuggling which brought the weight up to near 400 lbs. Again, I wasn't worried. If you can't get over the size, you can always get whoopie slings made with 1/8th inch amsteel instead of the popular 7/64ths since the 1/8th inch has a higher breaking point.

Don't watch the clown in the first video, watch the clown in the second video. Shug even got the degree and worked with Barnum. Plus he flys (or flew) control line, so he's well rounded.

Edit...the clown in the second video (Shug)...he does have a clue.

By the time he was fastening the second end I had decided that this was more likely a good example of what not to do when hanging a hammock, watching the rest of it, I knew that I was right.
