Question on baffle ends for down OQ

Hello All- I'm trying to wrap my head around sewing up an UQ and I think I pretty much understand how it all fits together apart from one thing: do you sew the ends of the baffles (the "vertical" ends) to the inner/outer shell? Or do you just leave some space and not worry about it?

I hope that makes sense, sorry if this has been posted before.

Harder but allows full loft throughout the length of the quilt
You can either stitch the vertical end of the baffle wall to the outer shell - assuming you have taken this into consideration with fabric length. This will also require you to box the corners of the quilt.

    or

    easier but creates tapered ends
You can sandwich everything together at the end with a rolled hem or ribbon or something else.

I really researched and tried to figure out what would be the easiest and most professional way of sewing the ends and came to the conclusion that I would allow additional length to my inner and outer layers so that I could sew the vertical ends of my baffles to the shell to prevent down migration. This allows full loft and looks nice as well.

So the top and bottom shells would meet in the middle of the baffles?

Question on baffle ends for down OQ

I sew the ends of the baffles to the outer layer of the UQ.
I cut the outer shell longer (by twice the baffle height) to allow for this without compressing any down.

Great, that's what I was planning on doing. I'm assuming you sew the baffles to the outer shell first?
