Mostly correct. In addition to the designated campgrounds, during general gun season, you can camp in any of the designated wilderness areas through there (since hunting isn't allowed within their premises). The only one that the FT actually runs through (as opposed to near) is the Juniper Prairie Wilderness (home of the aforementioned Hidden Pond).

But, the rest of the year, you can camp anywhere you want. Though...I highly recommend doing it near water...
