Fallkniven, thanks for reminding me that this stove existed. I looked at it a long time ago, but sometimes you need to look at a few hundred other designs before you can appreciate the simplicity of another design. I'll make my comments in your thread.
oldgringo, this looks like a great thread! There is always so much to learn from everyone on here. There's a lot of material in that thread!

No. The bottom and sides of my sock are filled up with bottom quilt now. I think that the empty bags that I tried back 10 years ago had the problem that they contained air which had convection currents in them. It was better than letting the sock come into contact with the hammock, but not nearly so nice as a down filled tube.

I made this after our -13* degree hang at Afton! It's a 9x7 tarp I got from my ez up. I sewed Velcro up the ends and a channel around the bottom for shock cord. I never had an issue with condensation and I felt it kept me warmer.
Very nice looking sock. I bet it blends in real nice with the snow as well. Of course at -13°f, I don't think there's too much to worry about someone running into you by accident.

Been using my WB Sock for 21 days now, temperature all nights between -1*C and -10*C. Buildup of condensation is dependent on wind, temperature, air moisture, ventilation and how much you sweat. One has to learn how to use the sock, just like riding a bicycle.
I love the use of my sock.
Best,
