I like this idea a lot. The webbing cup should aleviate any tearing issues. I bow hunt from the ground with a primitive hand made long bow, this would make setting up along the way comfy and quick and quiet. Be great to keep in the motorcycles saddlebags too! Thanks!

Ok so I decided to try the grograin pocket before making it wider hoping that somehow it would make it more comfy but it still needs to be wider. But the grograin pocket did work, I used 1 1/2" and ran it through the channel, then I sewed it into a loop with a bar tack and ran it back through the channel so the bar tack was inside, then I sewed the the top part of the grograin together to form the pocket. Also I hung it with my hammock suspension, since I wanted the pole to wedge between the ground and the tree I improvised a little so the gathered end was as close to the tree as possible.

That second pic might look a little awkward if you were sitting in the chair

So I need, okay maybe need isn't the right word, want to put together another hammock, and now I'm thinking a mix between this hammock chair with pole pouch and [o]TTeR's Winter Recliner II is a natural addition to make to a basic hammock. For the ULer who wants a comfortable chair while going down the trail but doesn't want to carry the additional weight it would cause.

Great, now I've got some thread injecting to do when I get home.

So keeping in mind I'm hunting using a 6' longbow, how long would you recommend the pole be? Thanks

Not sure if that would be the worry.. I think raising the strap higher on the tree would do it.. Combined with canting of the bow..
Of course I have been wrong before....Just ask my wife.......
We would be one step closer to world peace, if everyone slept in a hammock..

OK, let me re-phrase that, removing the bow altogether. How long should the pole be for comfortable sitting and secure movement?
