    Just purchased my 1st hammock!

So lastnight i ordered a Blackbird 1.7DL and a Superfly. Im trying to keep the rest of the gear low budget. I have a 0 degree bag, and will be getting a wally world ccf pad. I was just wondering what some other stuff that I may need to make my first hang more enjoyable.

Congrats on the hammock and tarp. You will love it. Though you MIT as well start saving , because it will only be a matter of time before you start itching to buy an under quilt, even if you have a pad already.

    Congrats on your first setup!

+1 on some zing it and just a bit of hardware to hang the tarp. Otherwise, start saving for an under quilt. You have a pretty solid start there, the BB is super comfy and the Superfly may be the best value tarp (cost, weight and coverage mix) around.

Buy two WM CCF pads (at $7 a piece, why not?) and cut one up into sections. I made a 3/4 length pad (which in winter is used perpendicular to the full length pad for extra insulation under my shoulders) and two sit pads out of the other one.

So looking at the site. Would it be good to order 2 hooks, 2 tarp flyz and a 25' length of zing it? I want to make sure I've got quick set up and able to get evrything tight in a hurry. It's not always a blue bird sky when ya show up at camp ;-)

Personally, I'd get 50' if you're tying lines off on the ends of the tarp and 100' if you're doing a continuous ridgeline under the tarp (I do the former). I have about 10' of line on each end and then 6' of line of each tarp tie off that go down to stakes. If you have 4 corner tie offs, that's 44' feet right there.

Yes, 2 tarp flyz. That's actually all you'll need for the ridgeline, depending on how you set it up. The hooks are only needed in a different setup (there are LOTS of ways to setup a tarp).

I set my tarps up like this, which only require two flyz:

You can always use Dutch Hooks for your stake tie outs, but those aren't necessary.
