16 miles on the AT near Erwin in the Rain

    Great time this weekend:

I got to see some of the thru-hiker bubble and hang in the rain. Great full-up test of my new silnylon tarp in the rain, and the Grizz Beak. Stayed nice and dry and warm all night among one heck of a tent city. Beautiful views and perfect temperatures. Never let the threat of rain put you off from a hike!

Nice video! I was up there this past weekend myself, though I went north - Hughes Gap to Watauga/321/AT, then walked into Johnson. Saw that same little wooden carved face too - thought it was pretty cool - along with ALL the super awesome views from Roan, and across the highlands and balds. It was a great weekend to be there for sure!

Im doing Shady Valley to Wautaga in a couple of weeks with a big group of overnighters. Hoping the weather is nice to us. I'm not generally a late spring hiker but I want to finish my gaps so by Jan 1 I have everything completed on the AT from I-40 to Damascus, about 230 miles.

That's Awesome!! I hope the weather is great for your upcoming hike and closing up of the gaps.

I'll be heading up to Dutch's state (PA) to do a section from PennMar up to Port Clinton, hopefully end of this month. I'm excited for it, and hope the weather is nice up that way too
