    Please dont shoot the noob!

    Please forgive the noob question.
But...and even though Ive read threads, watched vids, etc., I would like a list of things I need to get in light of my recent order- Warbonnet xlc and Superfly tarp. I plan to backpack/camp year round in the SE USA for starters.

I ask for your favorite setups that i might have choices.

More specifically, "what suspension doo-dads, warm/cool related items for sleep time, and whatever you think is just handy to make life easier with my particular setup.". Listing things necessary and things recommended would be very appreciated. I plan to hit the AT in about 2 months for a 3-4 day excursion with my son.

    Thanks so much.

Are you asking for just what you need for the hammock set up or all backpacking?

Underquilt, top quilt, (or sleeping bag and pad) and a pack to carry it in. You are off to a very nice start.

NEED? If you've camped in the past you likely have everything you need. I slept comfortably in a North Face CatsMeow synthetic mummy bag with a pad many, many nights before investing in Underquilt and top quilt.

Just my 2 cents but, use what ya got and let your own experiences guide you.

    Good Luck

Which suspension does your wbb come with?
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

I switched out the suspension on my WBBB to whoppies. I added Dutch clips to the straps.
The tarp, you will need to add the tie outs and ridge lines and such. I don't think any will come with it. I used 1.75 yellow zing-it. I use some Dutch tarp-z things so no knots. But u can do without that for starters. After using the zing-it for tie downs, I upgraded to the Jacks-r-better tarp tensioner rig for the tie-downs, but again, I first just used some zing-it.

Just a few things off the top of my head.

-Ridge line organizer,, make it yourself out of bugnet and grosgrain edge material. 12"x7"
-tarp stakes and 16' of 1/8" shock cord for doors, 30' of tech line for RL, all from DIYGear
    -cordlocks from HF store.
    - Dutch clips or small climbing biners for hammock

I second the tarp sleeves. I got minme from mountain goat. Shock cord on the side pull outs is recommended. I also recommend prusiks for all tarp tie outs so tightening and adjusment of the lines is easy.
