Would anyone know the weight of the grey ripstop that WalMart has had for sale in the $1 bin, off and on, for the last couple of years?
I have some PU-coated ripstop that I know is 2.2 oz with the coating. This looks thinner, if I mentally remove the coating effect. I'm thinking 1.1 oz.

If it's what I think it is.... I don't think it is 1.1 but more likely 1.9 or so. But you'd have to weigh it to be sure.

1.1oz is pretty thin material. I can see my hand through 1.1oz material.

You have 48 ft^2 (2 feet wide x 24 feet long) or 5.33 yd^2 (48 ft^2 divided by 9 ft^2 per yd^2) of fabric. Dividing that into 13 ounces will give you 2.44 oz/yd^2 (13 oz / 5.33 yd^2). If you keep track of the dimensions, you will generally keep track of what you multiple, divide, etc.

verification of the 1.22 figure.
It just occurred to me that I recently bought a used tarptent . These are made (per the site) from 1.3 OZ silnylon. My material is very similar in weight and size of the ripstop grid.
My new hammock will be two ply. So I should be safe.

I was converting the lengths to inches and calculating from there...it took me 10 minutes to figure out why yours was exactly 1/2 of mine!
