The only difference in the second one is that you have to pull the end with the first brummel through. It's not hard to do if you just grab the line a couple inches before and pull through, then work the first brummel through. Like I said above you can even use a big nail to open it up first. But I can upload that part if you really want

It's the wire used to suspend drop ceilings. I had a bunch left over from the basement. Sorry I can't tell you the gauge, but I can try to find out. I've used that green plastic covered twist tie for the garden before. It worked ok, but this stuff is much stronger and stiffer.

The bury effectively shortens the line some with amsteel, dynaglide and zing-it. I'm guessing your ridgeline came out 1/2" or more shorter than planned. Also, the bury length is usually calculated without the taper, so your buries are about 3" - which may still be okay for a line that thin.

Brute, for zing-it, try one of the colored strands of Cat-5 network wire folded double. Leave the insulation on it.
I used the 1.9mm which is rated to 400lbs I believe. I compared the weight of a 9ft ridgeline of Zing-It with a 9ft of Techline and they were 7.5 grams and 5.0 grams respectively. So it's a little lighter and seems plenty strong. Thanks for the info about the bury, I didn't know. You're right that the bury shortens it, but on this thin of line it's hardly noticeable. I will double check the final measurement.

Using Cat 5/6 strands can work, but only from good quality (solid strand) wire. Most cheap cables use stranded copper inside the individual lines, which is not stiff enough to push through easily. I install home electronics and wire houses so I know a bit about it.

Guitar B or E string would work great. The spiral ring if a notebook! Good idea. I bet the ring from one of those small flip pads would be perfect length.

Wow, awesome. Thanks so much for the clear demo; my "unfixed" ridgeline is now just something I used to use.

Always fix your ridgeline! We don't need a bunch of little unwanted baby ridge lines running around.
