Great shots, great food, great shelter--looks like you made the very best of a bad situation. enjoyed the b & w pics.

Thanks fellas! I had fun out there, already learned a few things for the next trip.
Great photos and chow ideas! I'm going to give those fried apples a shot. I go way simple when I'm solo but like to put on a good spread when I take my family. It's very unfortunately that some places get trashed like that. Might sound a little weird but I take nitrile gloves when we go camping. My sons and I conduct operation clean sweep and pick up everything in our site that doesn't belong there. They were a little resistant the first couple times but are all about it now.
Thanks for sharing your trip with us.

GREAT trip report! Cast iron and bacon fat can make just about anything better!
Love your enemies, but keep your gun oiled!
I am a CONCENTRATED vegetarian. I let the cows eat all the grass, and then I eat the cows!
Mudman,
Well at least it appears you did some seriously good eating! And that is good news that you were that comfy on the ground.
Hey where are you, where was this camp? Any trees in your neck of the woods? ( or non-woods?)
Thanks!
The fried apples happened by accident. We discovered it after being bored at another trip, and deciding to deep fry anything edible in bacon fat.
Actually Julia had Nitrile gloves with her, and did some cleaning as well.
We got trees, but this particular place was mostly brush. This was in socal near Wrightwood.
Found a few extra photos you doughnut guys might enjoy.
"Home made" donuts in the brush.
Well done - I need to camp near you guys.
Nicely done. That shelter setup is G.
