we are planning a trip next week to the Smokey Mtn. National Park and was on their back country permit reserve site....and saw the following where they have had a tree fall and take out the Cable system for bears.

thought it was cool to see them reference Hammocks !!!
They also reference hammocks on their $1 backcountry map and refer to them in their rules compendium.
Specifically, don't hang hammocks in or on shelters.
I have seen hammock campers on several of my GSMNP hiking trips. It is clear that they are popular in the park. It is good to see that they are aware of hammocks and are creating regulations to suit.
Kudos to them for treating us like regular human beings!
