what line do you use for hanging food bags

I was just curious to see what everyone uses for hanging your food bag. I have para cord right now, didn't know if there were better choices. The para cord just seems a little heavy and bulky. I got some zing it from Dutch today for my tarp guys, its nice and thin and light, is it too thin will it dig in to the branch?

I use Lash-It (same as Zing-It, but grey in color) and haven't had any problem with it. Slides over limbs easily, thanks to its coating, super lightweight and packs extremely well.

Can be a little rough on the hands when pulling up a heavy bear bag though, so I wrap a stick in the line to use as a pull grip.

Dynaglide for low tangle factor and durability. Way strong, too.

I have an Ursack - hanging bear bags was always the absolute low point and biggest drag of any trip. Now I don't have that problem.

I've been looking at the Ursack. What do you do with it/where do you put it? Same as a bear bag, just it doesn't require hanging? Thanks!

Zing-it using the PCT method. I have a small bag made from ripstop that I keep the line in, attach the line too it, and put the rock inside to toss over the limb. Same as Catavarie, use a stick wrapped around the the line, to help pull it up......RR

I use Fling It 2.2 & PCT Method to hang my food bag. This stuff is tough, slides over branches, and doesn't get tangled into a mess. I could have went with a smaller size. However, if you get it snagged up high, I want the branch to break before my cord does. It's a few grams more than the 1.4. You can pick up 50 feet at Zpacks.com

I like reflective line to help me find the bag in the dark. I've tried, but haven't perfected the PCT method. It always works much better at home than it does in the woods.

With the Ursack, you just tie it closed as shown on their website videos and then tie it to a tree, log or other immovable object. I usually look for a tree with a good sized fork in it about chest height around one of the forks with a double figure 8 knot using both cords.

I'm about to change over to Zing-It soon. Its lighter than paracord and packs smaller. I plan to use the carabiner trick to limit damage to the tree limb. There is quite a few of us in the group so 4-6 bear bags can start to weigh alot. Carabiner or mini-pulley really helps. Willing to bet it will help with the cordage being frayed over repeated use as well.
