So, from this post, and using 7/64" Amsteel as my cordage, the formula would be (7/64") * 72 = 504/64" = 7.88". I noticed that there is a 4" bury which is slightly longer than the ideal 7.88" bury. Has anyone had problems with this shorter bury? Is that only the recommended length for "slippery" cordage, such as, Spectra and Dyneema, and is Amsteel different, meaning that I can get away with a shorter bury? Just curious because I finished my first set of Whoopie Slings the other day and just now completed two 8" continuous loops (with 4" buries). Does anyone use lock stitching with their continuous loops, or am I worrying too much? Sorry for the rambling questions, but I'm a noob with this splicing stuff.

Some cords are more slippery than others. I sew then to prevent them from slipping. The cord i use is the brand Liros and called D-pro. Dyneema is the fibers these cords are made from. The difference is the brand names and in some cases how they are coated. As far as i can tell D-pro in more slippery than Amsteel is but theses loops are not locket so there is a chance they will open a bit depending on how they are used (i have seen it). Longer bury is better but i have made loops with 4" bury and used them without problems.
If there is nothing left to learn it’s time to die.
Live and learn.
I routinely use 8" loops with 4" buries. I'm 200 lbs, no problems yet.
Great video! Thanks for making it!
Nice, well done videos.
Great video.
I use 1.9mm dyneema for my loops(cause I had lits left over from failed whoopues).
I do t use a licked Brummel and completely double the line.
There is a small 1" section that is triple layer right on the taper.
1.9mm dyneema has 375kg breaking strain so doubling it gives me the required safety margin and a small diameter to work with on my hang devices
