Table Cloth Hammock whipping

same here i just got one off of Spacewesel and it is cool. going to put sinch buckles on it time to fire up my landis k moddle 12

I used this method to make six table cloth hammocks for Christmas presents this year. Only took me about 30 minutes to tie them all off. Made a dozen 12" continuous loops with amsteel. After tying off, I larks headed teo rings to the ends to attach the 1" webbing. Works real good. My son slept in his all through winter and spring break down in the basement.

Just finished with my first table cloth hammock. I bought some paracord but I was hesitant to use it since it looked like the diameter was too big. Instead I used a set of new hiking boot laces that I did not need. This was just to see if I could figure out how to whip a hammock. Seemed to work OK. Ended up sleeping in this hammock and the Hennessey I already had up. My son slept in the table cloth and I slept in the Hennessey.

Did not get too cold. We used sleeping bags.

Here is my first DIY tablecloth hammock. Slept in it last night. Very comfortable.

Looks right enough to me... Assuming the body of the hammock is on the left side in that picture...

I ended up using paracord and slings with a larkshead behind the whipping. The nylon I used for my first hammock is ridiculously slick so the whipping has to be extra tight. I did different gatherings a few times and got better at the whipping as a result. The W that brute shows in his pic gives me the best lay and takes out the stiff mid-line I had.

I did two hammocks and pulled the edges out more to take up slack fabric at the top. I think I pulled it out too far and will probably go back and whip it like the first hammock. Making these hammocks was lots of fun. Even more fun to show and use with the kids. Plan is to do 4 more. May try a Fronkey bugnet.

A trick I learned on here was to lay the fabric flat on the floor and have someone your size lay on it at the angle you'll be at when hanging. Then have 1 person at each end pick up the ends simultaneously to about a 30 degree angle and start whipping it. You can pull or let out each side for more or less fabric as you see fit. Better than trying to guess.
