    Another Canadian

    Hi Folks

I've been a year round backpacker for more than 30 years but as those years have accumulated, I've been on a quest for lighter and lighter pack weights.

Of course, ccf pads on the ground aren't as soft and comfortable at 49 as they were at 19 or 29 so now I've decided that hammocks will offer additional comfort, even at the expense of a bit heavier base weight.

I will be making my first hammock trip in a couple weeks into Waterton Lakes National Park. With the gear I've assembled I won't have any problems.

Like many here, I will blame it all on Shug and his wildly entertaining and informative videos on YouTube. For the time being I'm going to have to put up with Rocky Mountain back packing (darn mountains - look pretty but they can wear a fella out!) but I expect I'll be back in New Brunswick before the end of summer. Lots of great backpacking there too and the hills are a lot more manageable.

Looking forward to meeting and hanging with some of you.

    Best Regards

    Jungle Jim

Another "Howdy" from Ontario. Welcome to the forums.

Yeah, Millions of years ago our ancestors left the trees. Shug is probably the one person most responsible for homo sapiens retuning to them. Sometimes the old ways are best.

Northern Ontario reporting in, and welcome welcome!
Brand new to the forums myself, and well, to hiking/backpacking/hanging as well, though the occasional canoe trip used to be more up my alley.

Let us know if you're passing near Sudbury anytime soon
