    Fabric Question

Today at Walmart I found what looked like ripstop nylon for $1.50 a linear yard. I bought 4.8 linear yards for like $7. It said it was an indeterminate fabric so when I got home I weighed it and it was 24oz total or 3oz per yard. I am starting to doubt if this is ripstop nylon because I can't find anything online about it weighing 3oz. Also it is satin finish on both sides so I's pretty sure it's not DWR or silnylon. Any ideas what this might be? It has the little grid pattern and looks exactly the same as the 1.9oz ripstop that i bought from DIYgearsupply.

    Thanks
    Dan

Fabric is usually referred to in ounces per square yard not linear yard. So unless your fabric is 36 inches wide it will not be 3oz/yard.

What he said... But assuming its 60" wide it should be 1.7-1.9 which is what most regular fabric stores sell... Good stuff, strong but a little on the heavy side for ul people... Regular back packers love it...

It is 3oz per sq yard. It is 60" wide so I did the math to figure out the total area.

It sounds like it is 100diener ripstop, cordura perhaps? I've seen 2.9 ripstop nylon online before.
