I know this sound REALLY crazy...

Has anyone ever used polyester straps for their TARP ridge line?

This is not a weight thing of course... Its about having a very strong line for hanging gear, or stopping larger branches from crushin you...
And of course a ver fast and drag free setup?

I'm going to try it...just wanted to see if anyone else has done it?

Here in Florida, 1" wide straps are required, even for the tarp, in State Parks. And this is only for a 1 year hammock trial program. That's required only around the tree if course, not throughout the ridgeline.

Try it out & let us know how it goes. I haven't tried it - I typically hang my backpack off my hammock suspension & not my tarp suspension.

I have a new HG Cuban Fiber tarp I have yet to hang. When I consider securing it with 1.75mm lash-it, I feel a bit sqeamish that a gust of wind might cause some damage to the trees. I will likely use some form of strap to avoid damaging the trees. As far as protection from falling limbs- I suggest you consider a different strategy than a polyester strap ridgeline.

    Good Luck

Not being too concerned with weight, I have a couple of hammocks with 1/8" amsteel for a ridgeline. Not sure a falling log will completely bounce away from an overhead drop, but would sure like to see the video! Maybe I can do a "Mythbusters" test lay with a "Buster" hanger...

Do you mean straps for the trees only or for the entire ridgeline?

If you don't mind the weight try it out and let us know how it goes. There is no reason I can think of why it wouldn't work just the added weight. I am now using mule tape for my tree straps and I use dyneema for my tarp ridgeline. What have started doing is putting sticks between the lines going around the tree to keep them from directly contacting the tree, this has helped out greatly and I don't have to carry the added weight of heavier straps.
