Can you use reflectix by itself as bottom insulation?

A stupid question since a lot of people here talk about its uses in hammocks, but I never heard anyone talk about using it by itself.

I get confused by anything with "vapor barrier" in it, but I think that's one of the reasons?

Sure it can be used as under insulation same as CCF pads, or car windshields reflectors. It will keep your back and butt warm but you may run into problems with moisture in moderate temperatures.

I use it that way. It can be a little stiff and crinkly at first but that doesn't bother me.

I have used it many times..No issues other than getting it centered correctly under me...It wont be long before you decide you want an UQ real bad.

yep. It's WARM though so if you need to vent your TQ, don't hesitate.

I use a piece in my UQ footbox. At first I didn't like it, but I spray-glued a piece of fleece to it... it's much more comfortable and less clammy now.

Even though I have not used a piece of reflectix specifically yes it works and works the same as a CCF pad. However condensation could become a problem which is why I switched to UQ's.

JohnSawyer now that's an awesomely fantastical stupendous idea if I've ever heard one. Gluing fleece to a piece of CCF pad I could certainly see reducing moisture to some degree and being a lot more comfy. I am defiantly purchasing a fleece blanket this weekend and doing this myself thanks so much for the idea. What kind of spray glue did you use anything special?

You may have better luck if you're polite.

I've made two full body reflextix pads - one for me and one for the wife. They do tend to get a bit clammy with condensation. One of my plans for a while has been to find some spray adhesive and cover those bad boys in fleece. I have about 7-8 yards from a previous project.

The other idea I had was to incorporate a CCF, reflectix, and fleece in varying lengths and stacking orders, just to see what happened. I haven't done that quite yet, however.
