Klymit Inertia X Frame Pad in a hammock???

Has anyone tried the klymit inertia x frame pad in your sleeping bag in a hammock??? I was wondering if it could work, seems like it would stop CBS in +40 temps but, I can't find any info on anyone trying this before. With a price well below $100 and a weight of around 9oz I think it could be worth trying out.

I have the ULA AIRX pack which uses this pad, i have never tried it in my hammock. I have looked and cant find an r value for it even on the klymit site. The pad has a bunch of open space exposing you to cold air so i cant imagine it would be all that effective.

they have no r rating because they are pads that go in your sleeping bag, the concept is your rating comes from your bad the open spaces are to allow for the loft to pass thru.

this is not a pad to be placed in dbl layer it is a pad to be placed in your sleeping bag, if you want to try it that way on top o the hammock and in your bag then it will work wonders

At only 18 in wide, not sure it would work in a hammock. For a hammock, you usually need 25 in width minimum and 30 in better, but then you might be getting a little too heavy. It's all a compromise, but I think 18 in would be too thin to work in a hammock.

Even in a bag, open spaces underneath you equates to no more insulation than the crushed bag where the gaps are open. This pad works on the ground because the air between yourself and the ground would be trapped and still. Your body, the pad and the ground will reach an equilibrium. In a hammock, that is not the case as the air beneath you does not remain. The only way that this pad would work in a hammock is if it sat on top of something more airtight than hammock fabric or a sleeping bag.

Yeah, the Klymit Inertia X Frame is perfect for Hammocks. It was designed to fit inside of a sleeping bag so it definitely won't be an issue of fitting in a hammock. It also has really good body mapping technology so even though you see gaps in the pad, it still insulates pretty well as long as you have insulator underneath such as a sleeping bag. You can also fill it up with Klymit's gas which is a better insulator than air.

Ok, some people say it would others say it would not.... It didn't sound like anyone has actually tried it out but are giving personal opinions. If any has actually tried this out themselves, please share your experience thanks for all the input!
