    Gear sling?

Is it worth the weight to carry one to keep my pack up or is there a better way to keep it off the ground and under my tarp?

Clip your bag to your hammock suspension.

I've been hanging mine at off the suspension at the foot end. I had thought it was going to be to heavy until i realized there wasn't hardly anything left in it once everything was set up. . .it was a "duh" moment for me.

I'm just starting at this and expecting to do some motorcycle hammock camping/travelling. I've been thinking of some sort of gear hanging as I'll have helmet, gloves, riding pants, jacket, boots (I wear flipflops once on site).
I could stuff all the gear back in the luggage but it would be nice to let it hang. I'm considering getting a small 20 buck hammock and hanging it under my other hammock.

Using a second hammock also has the advantage of being used at quick rest stops or used at camp as a chair or if its a nice day as a lounging hammock to watch the clouds go by.

I'm a fan too. I think they are very convenient and help me keep things organized.

I have never liked hanging my pack from my hammock but my packs all weigh more than 2 lbs...What I do like is the idea of hanging pack and gear up off the ground so I don't end up bending down so much on one hand while things are up out of the weather on the other. Then there are the seating possibilities...all things considered it's probably the most versatile 5 0z in your pack.
    YMMV
