My friend and I spent two nights in the gulf on President's Day weekend. We had light snow with a low of 25F the first night, and clear and 32F the second night. With the vigorous winds on the rim, we were glad we decided to camp below in the Gulf at Sawmill.

I think the hike out via the Connector Trail to Stone Door was one of the most vigorous hikes I have experienced.

Great pics and thanks for sharing! Always good to get out with some other folks into the piney woods...I'm hoping to get down there some time this year myself...looks like lots of good camping!

Thanks. I used a Canon PS S95 mostly in program mode. That allows me to adjust the white balance and bring out the colors of the sandstone cliffs (amber) or the gray rocks and blue water (blue). Sometimes they don't reflect the actual scene, but that's the art I guess. The last shot of the river is my desktop now. It will keep reminding me to plan another trip up there to hang with you folks!

Thanks. It was a great time and a big swing in weather conditions. The hike up to Stone Door was a good one for sure! Lots of good camping on both sides of the area.

    Speaking of planning......

And speaking of Chuck, it was a huge surprise to see him. We met him at the Ocala hang when we night hiked in from the gate 2 winters ago.
I think it's Roches turn to plan the next outing...maybe mid-late October to avoid the heat and students?

Very well done. This took me right back to the hike in my mind. I have to be honest though...I'm glad we missed the freezing rain by a day!

Good times and I'm glad I joined everyone for this hike and hang!

That's a month before BSF 2013, unless we try BSF in October.
