    Hanging in my woods

So I come home from work last night to all my friends unloading their camping gear. Needless say I wasn't informed we would be camping. So I busted out the hammock and we went in the woods. My camp site is a great set up for about 5 tents but not so great for a hammock. I had a select cut and took alot of trees out.

So I found the best trees I could and went to work. Temp got down to 25 (not sure about a wind chill). So I figured I would be cold. I have a 30 degree bag, 50 degree fleece bag, and had my old youth bag to lay on. So thinking ahead and remember I saw a water bottle trick on the site I figured I would give it a try. Thank God I did. Hot water nalgene is awesome. I stayed warm all night and hated crawling out in the morning.

    And the pics.

Fire shooting some huge flames. The logs stacked as tall as my buddy.

Nothing like an impromptu outing, especially when friends drag you out there. Well done. Nice morning view. Looking for the deer and turkeys that should have brought you around in the morning.. Big ol' gobbler letting loose at dawn can send chills down the spine.

    Looked like a peaceful spot!
Love the silhouette against the fire.

    Re: Hanging in my woods

Thanks everyone. I really enjoyed it despite the cold. The Easter hophorn wasn't dead just snapped at the top. Still alot of buds growing in the epicormic sprouts. I jumped all on it trying to move it before hooking up to it. The incline made it difficult to set up but on the end all was well. Ready for more hanging.

Yeah that's what you'll get from a forestry major. Basically when a tree gets stressed or is damaged the shoots will take off from the break or the trunk to try and produce the energy needed to carry on survival. Its pretty darn cool. Glad i could help out lol. Epicormic

You are going a long way toward convincing me to set up a "camp ground" in the woods around my house, be way easy to accommodate 6 or 8 hangers. Might hear a vehicle now and then, but all you could see would be trees, well, and wildlife. We have both deer and turkey. I love the pic of the morning frost on your rig.
