I met Ed after buying a Hennessy. If I had met Ed first, I would have a Speer hammock, a Snugfit UQ and a couple of Speer tarps.

However, I have no complaints with my HH, especially after adding the 2Q/ZQ #2 Mod Bugnet Zipper to make it a top loader, a GuideGear camo tarp to replace the stock tarp, and rings to work with the cut suspension lines using a garda hitch. Oh, yes, there's a stuff sack on the suspension line now, too.

So Mac, it's not really a Hennessy anymore with all those mods, is it? I mean, once you mod it so much, it isn't recognizable as one anymore, other than the basic lay - which is nice - a very comfy hammock. If 2Q's wife had been doing the mod when I owned mine, I may have kept it!

Should I call it a Heresy?

The SuperShelter is unmodified... except for a Gossamer Gear Thinlite CCF pad for really cold weather, and a space blanket, and a KickAss Quilt that goes over or under the undercover, and an Army surplus poncho that is my windy weather overcover.

The combination of a Speer and a SnugFit is hard to beat...it's effective, simple, and hard to beat. I have a couple of HH's, a BB, and a Speer...can't say that any one is my favorite for all situations, but for quick and simple the Speer/SnugFit has me down and out in a flash.

I prefer a Speer over a Hennessey and would rather support Ed, but that is because Ed's a good and interesting person and I've never met Tom.
I met Tom while I was at work. It was the week after I used my new HH on a weekend backpacking trip. He was nice and it was really cool to talk about hammocking.

IMO, the HH is for early summer right after the snow melts off when the clouds of mosquitoes come out. I don't like the HH bottom slit. The top loader gets whipped out after most of the bugs are gone.
