    hudson river or what?

All of the experience here has finally gotten to me. I have been a sleeping bag and pad guy for too long. I have even tried to make an under quilt out of an old mummy bag......no pictures of that monster! After waaaaaay too many hours of late night internet searching I have settled on a jacksrbetter Hudson river. I like the versatility of being a under or top quilt. Before I order this thing, are there any other manufacturers of a quilt with a foot box that will open to serve as an under quilt and Velcro/snap/button/whatever closed so I can use as top quilt or backpacking quilt? ?
I will be using on a blackbird if that makes a difference.
Thanks for all the knowledge that has gotten me this far. I started two years ago with a grand trunk ultralight and a Walmart tarp just to play around and that has blossomed into a blackbird and super fly, new backpack, etc, etc, etc, etc. But I am most proud of my conversion of an entire boy scout troop (16 boys) into hammocks. Soon I will teach them about quilts.

Never have understood the desire for a quilt that could be TQ or UQ. Perhaps you could explain it, like I'm a fifth grader.

I also have a Hudson River and really like it. I don't use it as an underquilt anymore, but when I used to use it on a gathered end hammock, I really liked the ability to shift the down right where I wanted it.

I know Enlightened Equipment's quilts also come with tabs on the corners to string up as an underquilt, like the JRBs. They use karo baffles which allow down distribution in any direction.

Great quilt have always used it as a TQ in my HH. My son used it under his WBBB and thought it was great. He wants me to make him a clone.way to many projects.

Underground Quilts have a snap footbox, so the quilt opens out fully. But I dont know if it has tabs to suit UQ'ing it.

    Flexibility.

I have a NeoAir AS, and a sleeping bag and a foam pad at the moment, with a Hudson River arriving tomorrow (please, please ) and I believe I can get the combinations I'm after, for different seasons, also gathered or bridge(maybe). Just by adding one quilt.

Okay, my kid is a third grader....I will try to make the difference to a fifth grader...

This may be a sin around here but sometimes the hammock stays home even if I am in the woods. In that situation the top quilt would be more of a hiking quilt used with a pad on the ground. Yes I know, I said on the ground. Other times I would like an under quilt but not in the position to drop 600 dollars on some feathers to keep both a top and under quilt in my collection. There are guns and bows to buy, trips to take and sometimes shoes for a third grader . Until then when in my hammock, its an under quilt with my sleeping bag as a top.
    Thanks guys for the replies.

That’s the best sounding reason for the dual purpose I’ve heard! I'll have to rethink it's place in life.
