My 9-year-old son has been hanging with me for a couple of years, but my daughter has been happy in a tent with a friend...then, for her birthday a few weeks ago, she asked for a hammock--with no suggestion from me. I was more than happy to oblige. I picked her up a GT ultralight with a flowery pattern on it. She's been using it in the yard, but can't wait until our next trip. Unfortunately, she's going to have to wait until Father's Day weekend.

My almost 6 yr old is the same way. She wanted to go on my last trip on the AT. What types if thing did u do to prepare her or did u just go for it?
Well, this trip was only in the backyard. We have ground camped several times and went to a hammock this time. We will plan a trip soon to our farm to be away from the house. We'll see how that goes
hrmmm... one of our craftier DIYers needs to make the DOWN STUFF ANIMAL PILLOW... it serves two purposes... light packable pillow and warding off squatchs.
