Question S to S "sil" bag material & tarp questions!

So I have an XXS orange (dunno if that matters a hill o' beans) really, really lightweight silnylon drawstring Sea to Summit brand bag.

Question #1: Does anyone know what weight this silnylon is? I scored about 14 yards of the Wally World version of this (Sea to Summit bag) material.

Question #2: Is this weight what everyone makes their hammocking tarps out of?

I went back to the same Wal-mart yesterday (one month after the initial score) to see if they had any more silnylon left...and lo and behold, I got some more, but it is heavier.

I am jumping up and down ready to make one of Black Knight's Black Cat tarps (Mom sews and has agreed to help! Lucky me!)

Thanks for any insight you can provide!

I have to seatosummit bags and really like them. I can't say for sure, but I think it is the standard 1.1 oz before coating 1.3 oz total weight per square yard sil.

My tarp is out of walmart sil. Works great for me so far. If you make your own bags consider using a buckle closure like a dry bag. Add a little seam seal and you have something conpletly waterproof. I thought about doing that, but I do not think I can do it and have the weight the same as the seatosummit ones.

BTW, if you come across extra sil I will be more than happy to take it off your hands.
Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?

You're more lucky than you know - Walmart sil is kind of the Holy Grail of the DIY-er!

yeah, like black knight said<g>, silnlon from wal-mart is hard to find.
what people sometimes find & think is silnylon is actually DWR treated 1.1oz ripstop nylon. so be sure it's sil before you start your tarp.
I too will something make and joy in it's making
