were the bugs out? I guess this warm Carolina weather must be to their liking as much as mine..
I was getting bit once or twice at the Gorge Saturday evening. A bug net got moved up on my list after that!

Re: So what have I learned?

Lucky man, my first trip all I learned was not so sit on the full width of bunched up fabric while under the influence, you will forget and just flop back.

Although I kinda agree with the bug net, I got attacked by some daddy longlegs when I turned my torch on to go pee.

Great that you were able to take the kids, and that they wanted to go!?

I actually now have a small s biner on the heal strap of my shoes to use to hang them on the ridge line/ suspension. However I still recommend sliding them toward your feet. Nothing like waking in the night and forgetting where you are. Sit up suddenly and bam you remember........

Yeah I've been using my polyester webbing on several backyard hangs and never had a problem with it stretching until last night when it rained. It stretched a few inches leaving my back rather close to a small stump. Forgot that Polyester is not immune to stretch, just stretches significantly less than nylon. And even more when wet.

    Thanks everyone,

Yes, it was a very enjoyable experience. I think the kids liked it as much as I did, and I really did have a great time. I did wake up due to sounds of coyotes, a little CBS and my sandals experiencing a gravitational pull, but all in all, it was the most relaxing sleep I've had outside since I was a boy scout.

I was hiking with my boys this weekend up here in chilly Michigan. We found bugs to be out already and crawling around on the ice!
