Good luck getting the pee smell out. It will probably take more than one treatment of whatever you use. We have one cat that will pee on something if we leave overnight. So now we put down a sacroficial towel on the bathroom floor which she uses to let us know she is pissed off, then we throw it in the wash with bleach when we return. I'm thinking that the nylon won't absorb the liquid like cotton or some other fabrics so might be easier to neutralize the odor.

In my experience of being owned by cats since 1955: Check for infection, especially if there is a really strong odor. Marking is common, but that is just usually a tiny bit. Not what you described. Your cat might have had a plastic bin for a potty where she/he lived before. Your bin could have smelled like amonia, I think that smell is in some plastic, we might not smell it but they do. The cat could have marked you as its owner, so when you leave all cats will know that you are owned already. Spay or nueture boys and girls will mark to annouce where they live. Keep your clothing including shoes up off the ground, towells are included in the list of things some cats like to pee on.
If your cat does have an infection, beaware that your bed is fair game.
I also suggest you make your best selection first. You can lock in odors especially cat pee if you put the wrong thing on it, do not get it all out at the same time. Sometimes cleaning, drying and then cleaning again, puts the smell in permanently. Quick action is the best, just beware that you may lock the odor into the item that has been signed.

It's happened to me and I looked at the cat and said thank you.
The 'odor' mellows with time---especially sunlight and is (in my primitive
way of thinking) a great bear deterrent. Then again it may lure lions so depending
on your location this may be good or bad.
I'm sure a lion detects its is domesticus and not something his size, the bear probably
has never seen/smelled a house case and lumps them all into a one small cat(agory)
Nature's Miracle has worked when my cat has decided the bed/laundry basket/etc looked like a good spot to relieve herself.
As far as the causes, besides infections simply not drinking enough can cause issues too. My cat has to have mostly wet (canned) food, give her just dry for more than a couple days and she'll start peeing on anything fluffy left out
When we took up the carpet a few years ago (cat urine smell & it was VERY old carpet.) there were stains & urine odor on the wood, we used Peroxide & the stains & smell went by by.

I almost wish (at the expense of many fine outdoorsy types) that I had a dollar for every time I heard a story about a cat peeing on, clawing at, unstuffing down on, or choking up a hairball on a piece of high end outdoor gear.
Cats and outdoor gear don't mix. There's a reason why in every state across this great land, in every town, you will find bulletin boards full of ads giving these little furry demons away for free.
Has anyone thought of soaking in good old baking soda? It gets out odors better than anything else. I have used in on cat pee on my own equipment. I also use it to deodorize any other gear that can be soaked. Of course, after that time eventually heals. Oh, and I'll bet that was a male cat and he was spraying. That usually smells WORSE. Peroxide fades and bleach will ruin the nylon. I hope my advice works for you.
Just about everything you folks mentioned IS KIND OF OF OLD SCHOOL.
Recently I found one product in a wash that can hide or destroy a skunk.... here ya go - tried and tested...
