    Lk. Kissimmee State Park, Fl.

Good evening all. Just want to share my 1st. "official" hang this weekend, being that the only other 3 times I was in a hammock was during hunting season so there was no time for "Oooo" and "Ahhhh" or camping in general.
I called the ranger station at Kissimmee and checked to see if I could get a spot in one of the primitive campsites, which I was told "sure, we're empty in those". I then asked about the hammock and the lady said no at first but when I said I was using tree friendly straps, she checked with someone and told me they would be fine, so I loaded up and went. I went to Buster Island (a fitting tribute since my 4 legged buddy of several years was named Buster). As soon as I get the feeling back in my feet and legs (3 miles one way is alot for me with a 40 lb. pack), I wanna' go again
Not sure if the pictures will upload correctly, used my phone to take them.

Great pictures! I'm glad you didn't get hassled too much by the rangers, because that park is reasonably close to me. But I've always driven past it with the State Park prohibition on hammocks. Don't forget to fill out the hammock survey for the Park Service.

Yup, did that before I posted my post!! Thanks for the comments!! Didn't see a single soul out on the trail or at the campsite, just some rouge armadillos and a couple of thug raccoons. Gotta' figure a better way to carry water, that made the pack HEAVY!!!

Sounds like a nice place to go and check out. I like the primitive areas!!! I might have to see this for myself!
