Yep. Amsteel works really well. Another option, if you want, is to go with a strap-and-ring suspension. The details of how to make that, along with how to make Whoopie Slings, can be found on the DIY Gear Supply website here. Easy to see and comprehend in a graphic format, at least for me.
Also note that if you plan on sleeping in a state park down here (and the pilot program pans out), you'll need straps for your tarp attachment point as well.
