Ideal distance/height for HH hanging? indoor testing tonight!

    EDIT: DONE! (I think)...

I'm looking to set up my indoor porch for hanging tonight to test out some gear in the single digits. I have some choices of where to put the D rings I'm using, but I don't really know where I should hang them!

In the woods, I put the tree huggers around my head height or a little higher and the HH entry ends up around butt height, which is perfect. I get a little sag overnight due to rope stretch but have never ended up on the ground. I'm not sure what distance I tend to pick for trees, as I don't carry a tape measure in the woods.

Help! Give me some ballpark guesses if you don't know for sure. I am only going to get one decent shot at this (I don't want too many holes in the walls)

I will not need a tarp as I'm covered, though it might be nice to have the room to test that too, so I'm guessing I'll need more than 10 feet. I'm going to end up diagonally across the room somewhat, since the room is too narrow width ways and too long lengthwise to go on the axis.

    Thanks

OK I just measured the room and it's 10x20. I am thinking my choices are around 12' or 13.5', based on where the attachment points could be.

Also, it's REALLY cold out there. I was only out for a few minutes in my street clothes, but I was already starting to shiver. Ugh

The height for a bottom entry HH is this.
The bottom of the hammock where you enter should be at about chair height, so that you open then enter, turn around and sit down into the hammock.

So tie it up as high as you need to get that entry about chair height.
And I think from memory that the further apart the trees, the higher you have to tie.

Looks like Hennessy is calling for 13'-26', so I'll have to do at least 13

    EDIT:
It seems the ropes are long enough to go the full 20' length, so I think I'll do that, and put the hooks up pretty high, maybe above eye level

EDIT AGAIN... in case someone refers to this thread later, Hennessy recommends as follows:
"Distance between trees. The recommended distance between trees is 12' to 25' feet / 3.658 to 7.62 meter for the Expedition Asym and Ulralight Backpacker Asym models and 13'-26' / 3.962-7.925 meters for the Explorer and Safari models."

to porch test... tie as close to the hammock as you can to minimize the height needed and the sag that results. the closer to the hammock you tie the lower the connection points can be.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

    DONE!
For the record: I think the 20' length is fine. I put the D rings on the sides of the pillars and I don't hear any creaking or anything while I'm in the hammock. I put them about 6' high on each end and pulled the hammock fairly tight but not bowstring tight like I might in the woods.

The D rings are 3600 lb rated tiedowns for a truck, and there are 3/8" carriage bolts through them and with washers, lock washers and nuts on the other end. This is probably overkill, but I'm very happy with how strong it seems.

Now to get all my down and pads arranged and see how it feels!

13' is about the minimum distance between trees. With trees 13' apart, I put the huggers at head height.

BTW, I think a lot of the sag I used to get after lying in the hammock was not sag or stretch at all. I believe the supershelter undercover bungie cords held the hammock up higher than it would hang without the undercover. It looked right, but I ended up lower than I anticipated.

With the 2Q/ZQ #2 Mod Bugnet Zipper it's a toploader, so I hang it a little lower, at about hip height.

Mine rides fairly low even if I put the 'huggers' up as high as I can reach.
