    poll for SEHHA April 2007

this should help us (& ed speer) get a better idea of how many are coming to the
South East Hammock Hangers Association camp out at Hot Springs, NC
    April 13-15, 2007
it will help ed & karen know how many hot dogs to bring for one thing, but also there may not be enough suitable trees to hang but about 15 hammocks in the large campsite by the French Broad river, so some may need to use hammock stands.
ed has said he can provide some extra stands (but i don't know how many) & i should be able to bring one or two as well. ...tim
NOTE... i realize that if you vote on the poll, it's not a guarantee that you will be able to make, but but drop us a post if you will to let us know how things stand.

I can probably find this info on Ed's site or the Yahoo group, but I thought it might be nice to have it posted here, too.

    1 - What's the cost?

2 - What's the earliest arrival time on Friday (when will Ed be there)?

3 - What, if anything, do we need to bring in the way of community supply contributions?

    Link to details.

We will camp in the popular Hot Springs Campground approximately 45 minute drive northwest of Asheville, NC or 1.5 hours east of Knoxville, TN. The campground is located on the east side of the town of Hot Springs on Highway US 25/70 directly across from the Hot Springs Resort and Hot Tubs. The campground is situated on the French Broad River and our campsite (#413) is on the rivers' west bank. Road access to the campground is from Asheville, NC or Newport, TN on US 25/US 70. Trees are available for about 15 hammocks, so please bring hammock stands if you have them--we will also provide stands (contact us to reserve one). If you have folding camp chairs, bring them. Everyone will be responsible for his or her own transportation, gear, behavior, and camping fees ($15.00/dog, pay at gate; $6/person/nite, pay Ed at campsite). Camp central for the weekend will be the camp fire and large white canopy at site #413.

thanks headchange. i'll find out when ed & karen plan to arrive, but i think the norm is early afternoon.
as far as i know we don't need to bring anything for the group. ed supplies the fire wood & the free hot dog supper sat night.
other than that, everyone is responsible for their own food, shelter, etc.
most if not all of the group usually walks through the little mountain town to the dinner for breakfast both morns. and we'll probably eat at least one other meal in town.
i know there are at least two places to eat... maybe more.
there is a nice backpacking outfitter in town that we always go in & look & talk gear.
the side walk going by the front door of the outfitter is the AT.
there's a store at the entrance to the camp ground that's plenty convenient.
