Amsteel - Danger for it is addictive

I stopped by our local West Marine yesterday and purchased 100' of this stuff to make a ridgeline and anything else that might come to mind.......

WELL......

It is now gone and I have made the following:
New Whoopie Slings and ridgeline for my hammock - Not that I needed them (already had a set)
Ridgeline for my tarp.... Eye on one side and whoopie style adjust on the other
4 smaller whoopie type things with eyes and adjustment for the tie downs on my tarp

And I just ordered 100' more.

This stuff if great! I am having a blast making these things with it. Does HF have a support group for Amsteel addicts? I think I need one. Think I am going to go through DT's until my order comes in....... Huge fun!!!!

I've seen it elsewhere on this site: it's not an addiction unless you're trying to quit.

I get Amsteel by the spool. I figure I'll use it sooner or later.

100 feet doesn't go far seems like it just vanishes. Better buy much more before it runs out you don't want to have withdraw pains.

My order from Redden just arrived. I've been a busy little bee replacing the suspension on my Nano 7 just in time for a few nights of backpacking. Now I have an ASR and two UCR's plus some abbreviated 1" web straps with 2.5mm Amsteel strap extenders. I didn't save a lot in weight (about 40g) but it will do until my 2mm Dynaglide arrives. Come on Lawson! What's the holdup?...(foot tapping madly....)

I bought the 7/64 size in black. Interestingly enough their black is actually more charcoal, although I am far from being a badge wearing Fashion Police member.

I wasn't so sure that I would use a whole spool, so I started buying a few lengths at a time.... What a moron. Will probably buy a whole spool in the next pay day or two.

Half the fun of Amsteel is recycling used pieces down. That whoopie is is looking a little stretched where the bury exits, so lets take it apart and make a couple dog bones. My old dog bones are worn, so I'll cut them down and make a couple soft shackles...

can you get it by the spool from West marine? How much comes on a spool and how much $?

It's about $120 for 600 feet of 7/64 at Redden Marine online, maybe less if you Google for Redden discount code. Search their site for Amsteel and they offer both by the foot or by the spool.
