Yes, it's time to discuss the fascinating world of seam sealers. (My gosh aren't we a lot of gear geeks).

In any case, I bought some McNett Seam Grip Seam Sealer to seal up my D.I.Y SilNylon tarp. It came out more like silicone caulking than seam sealer. I think I'm going to peel it off and re-seal with something else. But what?

I was expecting seam sealer to have a water-like viscosity which would seep into the seams and dry thereby sealing them. But this stuff looked like bathroom caulking and went on really thick. Did I just use the wrong stuff or is that what seam sealer is suppose to look like?
