I know this will be no surprise to anyone, but after making all that gear and sleeping in my first DIY setup a few times, I want to do it again. What do yall think about 70d for a hammock? I know, its heavy, but thats not a concern, yet anyway. Any other drawbacks? I'm also gonna do one of the hammock chairs out of whatever I get. Thx

Made one out of 70D for my friend and I am worried that it might be too thin. I mean it holds him just fine but its just not very durable against wear. Next one will be made out of 210 Oxford Nylon or a double layer 70D.

I have made two hammocks out of the 70d x 100d plain weave nylon that DIYGearsupply sells for the sake of safety for my heavy self, though I'm pretty sure 1.9 would hold me from what I see in other posts. 70d is 1.9 and what I have is 2.8, but I like it. Welcome to the addiction!

Thats what I needed to hear, 70d is 1.9. I was looking at 1.9, and certain it would hold my 225lbs comfortably. Thanks

The WWM is 1.1 and has held up 250... It's only rated for 220 I think but...

    I'm 300 and in a double 1.1 or 1.3. Holds fine.

OK, so having established that it will hold me, is there any other reason why I might NOT want to make a hammock from 70d? Again, weight of the material aside.

The 70D that I made for my friend is starting to show wear spots in a few places. Worried that it wont last as long as a more durable material like 210 Oxford Nylon. But this is the only concern I have. It will most definitely hold you.
