    deck hanging

I just had my deck roofed and couldn't wait to get a hammock strung up. I bought an ENO dbl for the deck but the angle is a bit too extreme I think. Can you recommend a better hanging solution for me? Hopefully these photos will illustrate how I have things set up. I have it kinda of temporarily tied until I'm satisfied.

    Looks fine to me.

You can place a nail in the next rafter out. Just for a test view..no hanging, and see if that improves the angle. Once you find the spot that looks/feels right, then you can drill a hole.
14-16 feet apart for an 8' ceiling is about average.

Big question, is it comfortable ?

consider blocking the rafters after you dial it in. looks great.

That. The potential for twist makes me cringe.

If that red rope is what I think it is, it is not very strong. I would replace it with amsteel continuous loops larksheaded onto the rafters.

Actually, the red rope looks like a climbing/belay rope to me, which while every strong, has LOTS of stretch. I had a hammock in my yard that I hung with a belay rope. I had to string it so tightly just so I wouldn't sink to the ground. I finally got around to taking it down this week. You can just run your webbing around instead of the rope. I think the angle looks fine. :-)

Also you may consider a ridge pole... Like is used on the turtle dog stands... It limits the twisting on the rafters and evens out any weird angles if you do the math correctly...

    Plus One on these thoughts.
Very sweet arraignment. I could make a spot like that my personal abode for the rest of my days!

You can use the Hammock Hang Calculator to figure out your angles.

It looks like you should fasten to the joists about 22 feet apart, assuming they are 8 feet high. But, try plugging in your own numbers.

This looks great. Heading to mom's lakehouse this weekend, might have to hang on the dock instead of using the trees.
