there are many of those gondolas over jacuzzi's and other bbq areas in the area aound my neighborhood. My direct next-door guy built one over his hot tub. So there must be plans for them somewhere.. pro'lly a kit you can buy at Lowe's or something.

Can't be that hard to put plans together for.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

My vote would be kit available from some home improvement center. That would be my first try if I wasn't gonna put the list together myself. Background as a carpenter says to me... ain't too tough. Take the pic and set off to Lowes.

I built one last year - it is called a pergola - converted a deck into a pergola. Plant some hops, clematis or grapes around it, and enjoy.

    Plans from Popular Mechanics here.

    Another set of links here:

Lots of DIY plans out there - very easy to build. If you are going to do a free-standing version like the pic you had in the first post, you need to dig at least four feet down and cement the vertical posts in place. I want to do a free-standing one like that - it would be much nicer out in the middle of the yard for a hammock stand than my current tree setup.

Plant hops around it, and use the hops to make your own beer. Then enjoy the beer in your hammock, in the shade of your new pergola. Ahh, the circle of life.
